2022 Spring Ride to Asheville, NC
Brian, Randy, Jeff C., Scott, Jeff S., John, Joe, Dave H. and Dave W. met in Wytheville on the journey to Asheville. Tornadoes knocked out the power at the Hampton Inn and our rooms were cancelled. A quick pivot to the Tru Hilton was necessary. Day two found the riders twisting down the Blueridge Parkway while the three trailers made their way to Asheville. Having arrived beforehand, everyone in Asheville headed north up the Blueridge to meet up the riders in Little Switzerland. After a brief lunch break, we headed down and back up the Diamond back access before finishing the day on the Blueridge all the way back to Asheville. It was a delightful ride. We found an excellent restaurant on Merrimon called Vinnies. By far the best Italian restaurant in Asheville.
Day two we found another great ride down the copperhead route. Clean and well kept roads all the way. Dinner was interesting with oysters, crunchy old man, rabbit and brains on the menu. Unfortunately, it was not a Jeff S. compatible restaurant.
Day three was a delayed start due to weather and took us to Black Mountain for lunch at a local brewery. From there we headed to Chimney Rock before making our way through the Pisgah National Forest and concluding on the Blueridge Parkway. We all met around the fire pit at the Crown for Pizza and bourbon.
Inclement weather washed out the remainder of the trip. Dave encountered another flat tire near Wytheville on the return trip while Jeff S. headed to Charlotte NC to store his bike and spend a week in Kiawa. Everyone made it back safely.
